JBL Power Up speaker and wireless charger from nokia

Portable devices are becoming the primary means of entertainment for most people nowadays. Many people prefer to enjoy their tunes around the house, work, and at play in a much less ‘attached’ manner. Portable speakers are in demand and at very affordable price points. But some among them produce less-than-impressive output. Not the JBL Charge. It delivers big sound, yet costs less, than competitive portable speakers. It retails for Rs 9,990.

At the outset, let me state this: don’t let the compact size fool you. Hearing is believing and the Charge stands as a great example of a speaker that puts out sound far beyond its diminutive dimensions. Frankly speaking, this JBL innovation sounds better than other portable speakers. It wirelessly streams audio from any Bluetooth-equipped mobile phone or tablet.

At my end, I configured this little cylinder with three devices—a Dell laptop, BlackBerry and a HTC phone. With two 1-5/8-inch (38 mm) drivers, a built-in bass port, 2 x 5 watts of amplification and digital signal processing, it delivers really big sound with superb clarity. Ideal for active, outdoor lifestyles, this portable speaker fits into a backpack and plays from either a vertical or horizontal position, so you can use it just about anywhere.

A USB port on the Charge lets you charge other USB devices right from the speaker. So you don’t need an extra charger to keep your devices powered up. The speaker has a massive, built-in 6,000mAH Li-ion rechargeable battery that provides more than 12 hours of playback time. The battery is easily recharged using a USB port, which saves you battery hassles and money. A clearly visible LED lets you know when the built-in Li-ion battery needs to be recharged, as well as when the Charge is in Bluetooth listening or pairing mode.

Put simply, the Charge is a portable audio powerhouse for any environment.
